Atomy Vice Chairman Kyunghee Do is giving a greeting at the opening ceremony of the Single-Parent Family Integration Center / Atomy
The nation's first "Single-Parent Family Integration Support Center," established entirely through donations from Atomy, has opened in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province. With a total investment of 6.4 billion won, this center will serve as a permanent hub offering care, education, and self-reliance support for single mothers and single-parent families, all within one space. It is scheduled to begin operations next month.
Atomy announced on the 13th that it has opened the "Single-Parent Family Integration Support Center" in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province.
The opening ceremony was attended by Atomy Vice Chairman Kyunghee Do, Inshik Hwang, Secretary General of the Community Chest of Korea, National Assemblyman Haecheol Park, Gyeonggi Province Vice Governor for Economic Affairs Youngin Ko, Cheongwang Park, Vice Chairman of the Policy Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea, Professor Jongkil Je of Seoul School of Integrated Sciences & Technologies, Hyocheon Lee, President of Han Saengmyeong Welfare Foundation, and about 60 other related officials.
The center consists of one basement floor and four above-ground floors, and is equipped with facilities such as an infant care center, classrooms, fitness rooms, and community spaces. It is the first integrated facility in the country to provide specialized support for single mothers and single-parent families.
In addition, a "one-stop support system" has been established to provide welfare, education, cultural, and care services in one place.
The center will be operated by the Han Saengmyeong Welfare Foundation. Established in 2021, the foundation supports adolescent single-parent families, child heads of households, and children and adolescents who are victims of abuse. It has also operated "Linker" (a non-profit corporation) to support single parents in crisis and adolescent single mothers.
The main programs include: ▲ "Life Coaching," which diagnoses individual situations and provides tailored services; ▲ "Life Enhancing," which strengthens physical, psychological, social, and economic self-reliance capabilities; and ▲ "Life Sharing," which promotes self-help groups and community activities.
In June 2019, Atomy established a donor-designated fund worth 10 billion won ("A Heart That Values Life") with the Community Chest of Korea, of which 6.339 billion won was used for the construction of the center. Through additional donations, a total of 6.4314 billion won was fully secured, with Vice Chairman Kyunghee Do personally contributing 300 million won from her own funds.
Vice Chairman Kyunghee Do stated, "The Single-Parent Family Integration Support Center is a place that embraces lives standing at the edge, and a foundation of hope that gives someone the courage to live again. Even though they have made the noblest choice of 'life,' the burdens they face afterward are never light. I hope this center will be a place where they can pause, catch their breath, and reorganize their lives."
