A Modern Reinterpretation of "Legend of Mir 2"
Wemade announced on January 13 that it has officially launched the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) "MirM: Mogwangssangyong" (MirM) in China.
"MirM" is a modern reinterpretation of the world and entertainment of the core intellectual property (IP) "Legend of Mir 2." The game faithfully inherits key elements from the original, such as iconic items, eight-directional grid combat, and a quarter-view perspective. However, the combat system, equipment growth structure, and user interface and experience (UI/UX) have been completely redesigned to reflect the play style and trends of Chinese users. It is available on Android, iOS, and PC platforms in China.
The game introduces a user participation-based operation model called "Mir Partners." Users selected as partners can participate in a variety of activities, including community engagement, game promotion and content creation, and attracting new players. They can receive incentives and exclusive benefits based on their contributions and activity performance. The popular Chinese game streamer "Moz" will also join as a partner.
In addition, Wemade has selected director Yuen Woo-ping, a legendary figure in Chinese martial arts choreography known for his work on renowned films such as "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "The Grandmaster," as the promotional model. A promotional video highlighting the action and martial arts worldview of "MirM" through the artistic perspective of director Yuen Woo-ping has also been released.
Meanwhile, the original "Legend of Mir 2" achieved great popularity in China, with a cumulative user base of 500 million, a 65% market share in 2004, and 800,000 concurrent users in 2005.
