"Get Up to 100,000 Won Back When You Travel"... Wando County Relaunches 'Healing Pay' Program

On January 13, Wando County in South Jeolla Province announced that it will continue the 'Wando Healing Pay' individual tourist support project this year under the slogan 'A Great Place for Healing, the Healing Island Wando,' following last year, in order to attract healing tourists and revitalize local tourism.

The Wando Healing Pay program will be operated twice this year, from February to April and from September to November. Tourists (one or more people) can submit a travel plan in advance through the Wando Healing Pay website, proceed with their trip, and then upload three verification photos, hashtags, and a review of at least 50 characters on their personal social media accounts to receive coupons or points as support.

After verification, if they submit their receipts, they can receive up to 100,000 won per person in the form of coupons usable at accommodations, restaurants, and cafes, or as points for the local specialty shopping mall 'Wando Clean Market.'

The amount of support is determined based on the number of places used and the total amount spent, as shown on receipts paid with a card under the applicant's name. If the total spending is 100,000 won or more, 30,000 won (for one or more places) is provided; for 200,000 won or more, 60,000 won (for two or more places); and for 300,000 won or more, 90,000 won (for three or more places) is given as coupons or points.

If tourists visit island areas such as Geumil, Nowha, Cheongsan, Soan, Geumdang, Bogil, or Saengil, and the total receipt amount is 100,000 won or more, an additional 10,000 won is provided.

Coupons can be collected at the Wando Healing Pay on-site information center (84 Haebyeongongwon-ro) and used at local accommodations, restaurants, cafes, specialty stores, and experience centers, while points can be used to purchase specialty products at Wando Clean Market. The on-site information center will open in February.

According to Wando County, from March to October last year, there were a total of 15,000 applications for Wando Healing Pay, with 43,000 participants. During this period, tourists' total spending amounted to 6 billion won, and the nationwide production inducement effect was analyzed at 20.1 billion won, with the economic effect within Wando County at 13 billion won.

This year, the county plans to enhance user convenience and perceived benefits by expanding the eligibility for participation, providing one-stop services at the on-site information center, simplifying the application process, and increasing the number of affiliated stores and places where the program can be used.

A county official stated, "We will do our best to ensure that Wando Healing Pay becomes a win-win policy where both tourists and local businesses can benefit together."
