Intoxicated Man in His 50s Threatens Middle School Student with Weapon ... Arrested in the Act

A man in his 50s was arrested in the act on suspicion of threatening a middle school student with a weapon while intoxicated.

The Changwon Seobu Police Station in South Gyeongsang Province announced on January 13 that it had booked Mr. A, a man in his 50s, without detention on charges of special intimidation.

According to the police, Mr. A is accused of threatening a middle school student, referred to as Mr. B, with a weapon at a cosmetics store in Sodeap-dong, Uichang-gu, Changwon, at around 7:20 p.m. the previous day.

It is reported that, while intoxicated, Mr. A entered the cosmetics store and told Mr. B, who was passing by, to come inside.

He also reportedly told the store owner, "Mr. B is following me, so please call the police," making incoherent statements.

During the police investigation, Mr. A stated that he felt his life was threatened and bought the weapon at a nearby mart.

Fortunately, Mr. B was not injured, and it was confirmed that he and Mr. A did not know each other.

The police are currently investigating the exact motive and circumstances of the incident based on statements from Mr. A and witnesses.
