Jeon Ilhong, Head of Construction Management Headquarters of Daejeon City, held a press briefing on the 13th at the city hall press room regarding the quality test results of the Yudeunggyo temporary bridge deck and the safety management plan. He stated, "In accordance with the 'Construction Project Quality Management Work Guidelines,' we conducted quality tests on the Yudeunggyo temporary bridge deck. As a result, all items, including visual inspection and performance tests, as well as all tested specimens, received a 'compliant' rating."

Jeon emphasized, "Based on the results of this quality test, the city will implement a 24-hour safety management system until the main bridge installation is completed."

Yudeunggyo was completely closed to ensure citizen safety after subsidence occurred due to heavy rainfall in July 2024. Subsequently, Daejeon City undertook emergency disaster recovery work and proceeded with the installation of a temporary bridge, completing two-way traffic opening in February 2025.

Following this, a comprehensive inspection of the safety management of the temporary bridge was conducted in response to the National Assembly audit and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's on-site investigation. Daejeon City has since accepted the Ministry's comments and recommendations, supplementing and strengthening its management system.

In particular, when one year had passed since the installation of the temporary bridge, an additional quality test was conducted on 17 deck panels. All items, including visual inspection and performance tests (load-bearing capacity), received a 'compliant' rating. It was officially reconfirmed by an accredited institution that the deck panels used in the Yudeunggyo temporary bridge, despite being reused materials, fully met national quality management standards.

In addition, the results of the precise safety inspection service conducted by Daejeon City since 2025 also rated the facility condition grade of the Yudeunggyo temporary bridge as 'Good (B),' confirming objective safety in both material quality and structural condition.

Daejeon City will continue to strengthen its comprehensive 24-hour safety management plan until the main bridge installation is completed, including: ongoing verification of the overall structural safety of the bridge; additional installation of tendon tension meters; operation and analysis of automatic monitoring systems such as deflection, strain, and inclination meters; immediate implementation of control and response measures upon detection of abnormal monitoring signs; and reinforcement of traffic safety management, such as installing speed limit signs.

Jeon Ilhong, Head of Construction Management Headquarters of Daejeon City, stated, "The quality and safety of the Yudeunggyo temporary bridge have been objectively confirmed through quality tests and precise safety inspections. The bridge has been operated safely thus far, and its safety has been reconfirmed through ongoing inspections. As always, we will continue to prioritize citizen safety as our highest value and do our utmost to ensure thorough management so that citizens can use the bridge with peace of mind."
