This forum, under the theme "Move Beyond Borders: Multicultural Education Opening the Future," brought together officials from the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education and the ministries of education of various Central Asian countries to discuss educational policies and cooperation strategies.
The main agenda included: ▲ a lecture by Professor Mo Kyunghwan of Seoul National University on "The Future of Multicultural Education"; ▲ (Session 1) Multicultural Education Cooperation (language, career, culture); ▲ (Session 2) Multicultural Future Education (academic achievement, schools, the future); and ▲ (Roundtable) Inter-country Educational Cooperation.
The first session, themed "Multicultural Education Cooperation," focused on sharing specific cooperation strategies based on cases that transcend the boundaries of language, career, and culture, including global internships, career education, and inter-school educational cooperation.
In the second session, "Multicultural Future Education," participants discussed future education for multicultural students and global education models that go beyond the boundaries of academic achievement, schools, and the future, clearly highlighting that multicultural education is a core element in nurturing global talent, beyond simply providing language support.
Notably, Adilbek, a first-year student at Yonsei University who participated in the second session, shared his thoughts, saying, "Multicultural education was the starting point for new opportunities, and now I want to contribute to society through those opportunities."
Hong Jeongpyo, Deputy Superintendent II of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, emphasized, "This forum confirmed that multicultural education has become a key pillar of international educational cooperation," adding, "We will further develop our vision for future education based on global education cooperation models."
Building on this forum, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education plans to continuously expand its educational cooperation network with Central Asian countries, Mongolia, and other East Asian nations, and to gradually implement policy cooperation based on multicultural education.
