Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, announced that Mayor Lee Sangil and a city delegation will visit Da Nang, Vietnam, from January 12 to 15 for four days and three nights. The purpose of the visit is to attend the completion ceremony of a library built by the city in Quang Phu District, Da Nang, as part of an official development assistance (ODA) project, and to sign a friendship agreement with Da Nang City.

The city delegation plans to visit the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Da Nang on January 12 to discuss ways to promote exchange and cooperation with Da Nang City. On January 13, they will attend the completion ceremony of the 'Yongin Public Digital Library,' established by the city through the ODA project, within the International Lotus Village, a non-profit organization located in Quang Phu District, Da Nang.

This project is one of the ODA initiatives promoted under the 'Ordinance on the Promotion of Internationalization and International Exchange Cooperation of Yongin City.' After receiving approval from the International Development Cooperation Committee in 2024, the city provided a budget of 200 million won for the construction of the library.

Mayor Lee plans to visit the International Lotus Village Welfare Town after the completion ceremony to encourage staff and stakeholders. The International Lotus Village Welfare Town is a Korean-style welfare village established locally in 2015 by the International Lotus Village organization. It is equipped with various educational and welfare facilities, including a vocational training center for local talent development, a Korean language school, and a daycare center.

On January 14, the delegation will visit Da Nang City Hall to meet with Pham Duc An, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, and sign a friendship agreement between the two cities. This agreement aims to succeed and expand the existing cooperative relationship, as Quang Nam Province, which had established a friendship with Yongin City in 2013, was integrated into Da Nang and reorganized as a centrally governed city following Vietnam's administrative reorganization in July 2025.

On the final day of the visit, January 15, the delegation will tour the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park industrial complex to hear about the development and operation status of the industrial park, exchange views on policies for fostering high-tech industries and attracting companies, and conclude the official schedule.

Mayor Lee stated, "It is very meaningful for the city to build a library in another country through its first-ever ODA project, providing support to local youth and citizens," adding, "During this visit, we will also discuss ways for the two cities to cooperate in the high-tech industry sector."
