The Daegu Happiness Promotion Social Service Institute (Chairman Bae Ki-chul) announced on January 12 that, following a comprehensive review and restructuring of its organization and business operations last year, it will gradually advance its social services in 2026 so that citizens can directly experience meaningful changes.
The Daegu Happiness Promotion Center has continuously improved its organizational structure, service delivery system, and internal management processes, clarifying management procedures and enhancing on-site responsiveness. These stabilization efforts have attracted attention from both domestic and international institutions. Public institutions from other regions preparing for integration, as well as representatives from the Okinawa Prefectural Assembly in Japan, have visited to examine the center’s operational methods and management systems.
In particular, both the institution and its director have seen improvements in their operational indicators. Compared to 2023, the institution rose by one level and the director by two levels, demonstrating that the operational system and business processes are becoming increasingly stable.
Building on this foundation, the Daegu Happiness Promotion Center has developed strategies to enhance the effectiveness of social services and increase citizens’ sense of tangible benefit, targeting specific groups such as lifelong learners, youth, and women.
In the field of lifelong education, the center will expand lifelong learning programs that reflect citizen demand, focusing on Daegu Citizens’ University, and including AI and digital competency development, humanities and liberal arts, and practical courses. Moving forward, it plans to strengthen customized content and operational systems tailored to the characteristics of individual learners.
For youth and young adults, the center has collaborated with the local community to operate the “Visiting Daegu Happiness Service” and has strengthened support systems by expanding on-site participation through various customized programs, including the operation of youth centers. Based on these efforts, the center intends to further refine its projects to improve accessibility and the sense of benefit for policy recipients.
The management system for residents of Hope Village will also be advanced to enhance support for health, safety, and daily living, as well as to better guarantee rights. The center will improve staff competencies and operational procedures to provide more systematic and stable services.
In the childcare sector, the center has expanded its operations beyond the existing Childcare Support Center and City Hall Daycare Center to include Waglwagle Ai Sesang and Daegu Children’s World. By refining facility-specific programs and service delivery systems, the center aims to improve safety and care quality, providing customized support that children and families can truly experience.
Additionally, the center will strengthen communication with citizens through social media and will continue to improve so that feedback from the field and citizens’ voices are faithfully reflected in business planning and operations.
Bae Ki-chul, Chairman of the Daegu Happiness Promotion Center, stated, “Since taking office, I have continuously pursued systematic improvements and reviews to stabilize the organization and ensure efficient management of our operations. Moving forward, we will continue to focus on field-oriented operations and strengthening customized support systems to provide social services that citizens can truly feel.”
