The newly opened section of the road is a 4.3-kilometer stretch of Local Road No. 86, running from Changhyeon-ri to Geumnam-ri in Hwado-eup. The project was undertaken to improve the existing road, which was narrow and winding with a high risk of accidents, by converting it into a straight two-lane road. A total of 92.7 billion won was invested, and the construction was completed in 5 years and 8 months after it began in May 2020.
The event was attended by Jo Sungdae, Chairman of the Namyangju City Council, council members Park Yunok and Jeon Hyeyeon, Mayor Joo Gwangdeok, and local residents. The program began with a progress report on the road construction project, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a joint road check of the newly opened section with citizens.
Afterwards, Chairman Jo and the council members attended the completion ceremony of the Changhyeon 2-ri Community Center, hosted by the Changhyeon 2-ri Village Association, and celebrated the new beginning of the center together with the residents.
The Changhyeon 2-ri Community Center was newly built as part of the public contribution plan (village support project) related to the development of the Geumnam 5 District logistics center, in response to the need for a replacement due to the aging of the previous community center. A total of 580 million won was invested to construct a one-story building with a total floor area of 273.82 square meters.
Chairman Jo Sungdae stated, "I am doubly pleased that the completion of Local Road No. 86 and the Changhyeon 2-ri Community Center, both of which have been in the works for 13 years since the start of the design phase, are being celebrated on the same day."
He continued, "Not only the newly completed Local Road No. 86 and community center, but also various plans are being steadily prepared by the Namyangju City Council and the administration to further upgrade Hwado into a better place to live and do business. As these plans start to materialize one by one from this year, residents will begin to feel the changes."
Chairman Jo added, "In the Year of the Red Horse, the Namyangju City Council will work even harder to dynamically advance Namyangju, just as a fine horse gallops forward, and to make the dreams of our citizens come true."
