"Tailored Job Support" ... Changwon Special City Mobilizes All Efforts to Revitalize the Local Economy

Active Promotion of Tailored Support in Three Key Areas:
Core Industries, Middle-Aged Workforce, and Vulnerable Job Seekers

Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province is set to actively promote job creation support projects aimed at revitalizing the local economy.

"Tailored Job Support" ... Changwon Special City Mobilizes All Efforts to Revitalize the Local Economy Sim Dongseop, Director of the Economic and Employment Bureau, is explaining about the revitalization of the people's economy.

According to the city on January 12, this initiative is intended to stabilize the regional economy, which has been struggling due to increasing domestic and international uncertainties, prolonged high exchange rates, and tariffs imposed by the United States. The city announced that it will make every effort to support employment in response to these challenges.

To this end, the city plans to focus its administrative resources on creating sustainable jobs in key industries by providing tailored support for the defense and aviation sectors. Additionally, the city will make every effort to respond to central government calls for proposals as soon as public projects for the shipbuilding and automotive industries are confirmed.

The city will also strengthen customized job support for middle-aged residents (ages 40 to 64) to enhance their reemployment competitiveness in response to demographic changes. Various support measures have been prepared, including expanding hiring incentives for companies and providing job seekers with financial assistance for certification acquisition and digital skills training.

Starting in January, the city will also launch public job programs to support the livelihoods of vulnerable job seekers and boost their motivation to work. In the first half of the year, a total of 4.7 billion won (3.2 billion won for public work projects and 1.5 billion won for community job projects) will be invested to provide 845 public sector jobs across four categories: administrative informatization, service support, environmental cleanup, and others. Through this initiative, it is expected that vulnerable job seekers will be able to establish a foundation for long-term reemployment in the private sector.

For the first half of the year, the community job project will recruit 210 people from January 12 to 16, while the public work project will recruit 635 people from January 19 to 23. Applicants must visit their local administrative welfare center in person to apply, and the participation period will run for four months from March 3 to June 30. Detailed recruitment plans can be found on the Changwon City Hall website.

Sim Dongseop, Director of the Economic and Employment Bureau, stated, "Beyond short-term support, we will mobilize all administrative resources to ensure that these projects are operated effectively, so that we can achieve both the recovery of the local economy and sustainable growth."
