Sinsungo and Korea IDC Partner to Build Next-Generation High-Efficiency Modular Data Centers

Sinsungo, an eco-friendly cold chain solution company, announced on January 12 that it will enter the next-generation data center market in partnership with Korea IDC, a brand specializing in server hosting and data center (IDC) operations.

On January 8, the two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the construction and demonstration of a high-efficiency Edge data center. The key aspect of the agreement is the application of Sinsungo's proprietary "modular cooling solution" technology to data center infrastructure.

The "Edge data center" to be developed is a compact, modular unit that can be installed anywhere, including unused urban spaces or inside buildings. It is drawing attention as essential infrastructure for environments that require immediate data processing, such as autonomous driving and smart factories.

Sinsungo is a company founded by an in-house venture team from LG Electronics. By adapting refrigerator design technology, it has developed and applied a "modular cooling solution" that cools server racks in small groups. This technology can dramatically reduce power consumption compared to traditional data centers that cool entire buildings. Korea IDC will leverage its more than 20 years of expertise in server operations to handle system construction, network integration, and performance verification in real-world operating environments.

Going forward, the two companies plan to jointly carry out a 5MW-class edge data center technology verification project and commercialize a variety of eco-friendly data center models to target the domestic and global advanced data center markets.

Seonghun Lee, CEO of Sinsungo, said, "The essence of our modular insulation technology is efficient temperature control," adding, "By collaborating with Korea IDC, we aim to prove that our cooling solution will become a core technology for achieving carbon neutrality in the IT infrastructure industry, extending beyond logistics."
