216,000 Leave KT During 'Penalty Waiver' Period... Surpassing SKT's Numbers

Most Departing Subscribers on the 10th Switched to SK Telecom

During KT's penalty waiver period, more than 216,000 subscribers switched to other telecommunications companies, surpassing the number seen during SK Telecom's own waiver period.

According to the telecommunications industry on January 11, the number of subscribers who left KT from December 31 of last year, when the penalty waiver began, to January 10 of this year totaled 216,203.

This figure far exceeds the 166,000 subscribers who switched carriers during SK Telecom's ten-day penalty waiver period in July of last year.

On Saturday, as more users switched carriers, the daily number of KT subscribers who left surpassed 30,000 for the first time, reaching 33,305.

On January 10 alone, the total number of mobile number portability cases was 63,651. Among those who left KT, 22,193 moved to SK Telecom, 8,077 to LG Uplus, and 3,035 to mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs).

Since KT's penalty waiver is in effect until January 13, a surge in last-minute departures is expected over the remaining two business days.
