A total of 650 Child Safety Guardian Volunteers will be selected this time, with recruitment quotas allocated to each city and county police station. The selected volunteers will conduct patrols during school commuting hours on elementary school routes, playgrounds, parks, and other areas, taking responsibility for preventing crimes against children and guiding youth.

The activity period for the Child Safety Guardian Volunteers is ten months, from March to December 2026, with a maximum of 57 hours per month (up to 3 hours per day).

Each police station in the province will conduct an objective evaluation process for the selection of volunteers, including criminal record checks, physical fitness assessments, and interviews. Candidates will be fairly selected based on a comprehensive review of their understanding of the work, motivation to participate, and suitability for supporting public safety activities. The results will be individually notified to the applicants.

Jo Myungsoo, Chairperson of the Gangwon Autonomous Police Committee, stated, "Anyone can apply to become a Child Safety Guardian Volunteer regardless of age, but we mainly select retired seniors, thereby contributing to the creation of jobs for the elderly. By assigning the important social role of protecting children, the program enhances participants' sense of pride and provides reassurance and satisfaction to parents and teachers."

He added, "We hope for active interest and participation so that children and youth can grow up in a safer environment."

The application period is from January 12 to 23, 2026 (a total of 12 days). Those interested in participating can download the application form from the announcement on the website of the police station where they wish to serve. After completing the application and attaching the required documents (such as a health checkup report, proof of employment for vulnerable groups, and certificates of relevant work experience), applicants should submit them in person to the Women and Youth Division at the respective police station.
