Kim Kyung, a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, who is suspected of handing over 100 million won in "nomination funds" to Kang Sunwoo, an Independent Member of Parliament, will return to Korea next Monday.
According to police and other sources on January 9, Kim, who is currently staying in the United States, will depart over the weekend local time and arrive at Incheon International Airport in the early morning of January 12, Korea time.
The police plan to immediately impose a travel ban upon his arrival and coordinate the schedule for questioning.
Recently, Kim submitted a written statement through his attorney to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Public Crime Investigation Unit, which is investigating the nomination fund allegations. In the statement, Kim reportedly admitted to the allegations, stating that he handed over 100 million won to Kang’s side during the 2022 local elections and later got the money back.
