Additional 966 Million Won in Municipal Funds Secured
Supply Increased to 95% of Requested Amount
Yeongcheon City (Mayor Choi Kimoon) announced on January 9 that it will begin supplying organic fertilizers to establish environmentally friendly, natural circulation agriculture and produce high-quality, safe agricultural products.
This year's project has a total budget of 3.255 billion won, with the city securing an additional 966 million won in municipal funds, marking the largest budget allocation since 2020.
The amount of fertilizer allocated to each farm was determined at the Organic Fertilizer Supply Management Council held in December of last year, and the allocation was increased to 95% of the requested amount, enhancing the satisfaction of local farmers.
The city was able to adequately reflect demand and improve farm management conditions by securing the largest-ever municipal budget for organic fertilizer support this year, following high demand for the program last year. This will help reduce agricultural management costs for farmers.
The target for support is farmland registered as an agricultural management entity.
The fertilizers provided include three types of organic fertilizers-mixed oil cake, mixed organic, and organic compound fertilizers-as well as two types of matured organic fertilizers-livestock manure compost and general compost-making a total of five types.
Support will be provided at a differentiated rate ranging from 1,300 to 1,600 won per 20kg bag, and for matured organic fertilizers, up to 2,000kg per 10 ares will be supported.
A city official stated, "Through this organic fertilizer support program, we aim to improve the management conditions of local farms. We will continue to implement policies that ensure stable farm incomes, revitalize the local economy, and realize natural circulation agriculture."
