This launch ceremony was organized to systematically respond to the public contest for the lifestyle-oriented social infrastructure (SOC) complex project, which utilizes the Gyeonggi Province Development Profit Provincial Residents Reinvestment Fund. In particular, it was promoted to officially express Yeoncheon County's commitment to being selected for the contest by gathering various opinions from local residents and forming a broad consensus among all citizens.
The event was attended by 24 representatives of social organizations, including Co-Chairman Ji Youngcheol, Director of the Yeoncheon County Volunteer Center, and Co-Chairman Jeong Namhun, President of the Yeoncheon County branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association, as well as Kim Kyungsik, President of the Yeoncheon County Council for the Right Living Movement and Secretary-General of the committee, and Im Dalsu, President of the Yeoncheon County Village Head Association.
Co-Chairman Jeong Namhun stated, "This all-citizen promotion committee is not just about attracting the project, but serves as the starting point for a resident participation system that reflects residents' needs and opinions in policy. Local social organizations will take the lead in broadening consensus and actively promoting the initiative."
A Yeoncheon County official emphasized, "The Gyeonggi Life SOC Reinvestment Project is a symbolic initiative that returns development profits from Gyeonggi Province to the lives of county residents. It will improve the living conditions for Yeoncheon County residents, who have long endured special sacrifices as a border area, and, in connection with rural basic income, will serve as an opportunity for the county to transition from a depopulating area to a growing one."
During the launch ceremony, the official inauguration of the all-citizen promotion committee was declared, and a resolution was adopted to express each organization's commitment to cooperation for selection in the contest. The participants also agreed to carry out joint promotional activities, including future launch events, press conferences, and the posting of banners.
A representative of the all-citizen promotion committee said, "This contest is a crucial opportunity that will determine the future living infrastructure of Yeoncheon County. We will actively communicate the necessity and justification for Yeoncheon County through continuous resident participation and promotional activities, including the Gyeonggi Province press conference scheduled for January 14."
Meanwhile, starting with the formation and launch of the all-citizen promotion committee, Yeoncheon County plans to fully activate its response system for the contest, mobilizing all departments for publicity and encouraging advance voting participation to maximize efforts for selection in the "Gyeonggi Life SOC Reinvestment Project" contest.
