The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is set to expand its overseas education cooperation network to strengthen the global competencies of students and staff.
On January 9, the Office announced that its International Exchange and Cooperation Network Promotion Team will visit three countries-Thailand, T?rkiye, and New Zealand-starting from January 11, to actively discuss expanding international education exchanges.
This visit has been planned to broaden international exchange and cooperation between the Office and countries around the world, and to proactively identify outstanding overseas educational resources that schools in the province can immediately adopt and utilize.
The selected countries are three of the United Nations (UN) member states that supported the Republic of Korea during the Korean War. The purpose is to pursue in-depth educational cooperation based on historical ties.
The Promotion Team consists of 18 members, including principals, teachers, and education professionals with expertise in international exchange and cooperation work. They will visit each country to: ▲ hold consultations with local education offices and related organizations; ▲ visit outstanding local schools and explore intentions for exchange; and ▲ identify programs linked to curricula.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will share information on overseas schools and institutions identified by the Promotion Team with the Gyeonggi International Education Institute to systematically build a comprehensive database (DB).
Seo Hyejeong, Policy Planning Director at the Office, stated, "For students to grow as global citizens, they need to go beyond the boundaries of the classroom and engage with the wider world," adding, "We hope that the international exchange and cooperation network established through this initiative will expand the future of Gyeonggi education globally and serve as a catalyst for activating international exchanges in schools."
