Mokpo National University Instructor Seo Woo Lee Wins 'World Champion' Title at US Line Dance World Championships

Seo Woo Lee, an instructor in the Department of Physical Education at Mokpo National University, elevated the status of Korean line dance by winning the World Champion title at the World Line Dance Championship in the United States.

On January 9, Mokpo National University announced that instructor Seo Woo Lee claimed the World Champion title in the Classic Line Dance category at the 2026 UCWDC World Championships, which took place in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

Lee achieved remarkable results by securing first place in the Classic Line Dance Advanced Age category and second place in the Open category.

The United Country Western Dance Council (UCWDC) is an international line dance organization founded in the United States in 1989. The UCWDC World Championships have been held annually since 1993 and are regarded as a prestigious event that concludes the year-end season.

This is not Lee's first time becoming a world champion. In 2018, Lee won the World Champion title in the Classic Line Dance Intern Medley category at the WCC World Championships held in Germany. Since then, Lee has been actively working as a line dance athlete and instructor in Korea.

Currently, Lee teaches the liberal arts course "Modern Society and Leisure Sports" at Mokpo National University, dedicating efforts to dance sports instruction and lifelong physical education. Since 2016, Lee has also contributed to promoting community sports by running the "Escape from Two Left Feet: Line Dance" course at the Lifelong Education Center. Lee, who graduated from the Graduate School of Education at Mokpo National University, is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in the Department of Leisure Sports at the university’s graduate school.
