Dongducheon City Discusses 2026 Education Innovation and Regional Development Cooperation Plans with Local Universities

Dongducheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on January 9 that it held a council meeting on January 8 at the Dongducheon Lifelong Learning Center, attended by about 10 people including city officials and representatives from Dongyang University, under the theme "2026 Education Development Zone and Gyeonggi RISE Project Promotion Plan."

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Dongducheon Future Education Promotion Institute, the Head of the Education Development Zone Team, Heo Nojeong, Vice President of Dongyang University, Noh Kyungcheol, Head of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, and Kim Woojae, Head of the RISE Project Team. Participants reviewed the achievements of the 2025 project, discussed development directions for 2026, and shared concrete implementation plans, including ways to expand existing projects and link them with new initiatives.


An official from the Dongducheon Future Education Promotion Institute stated, "Since Dongyang University was designated as an Education Development Zone in 2024, we have been cooperating for the mutual growth of local education and the university," adding, "We will continue to strengthen cooperation and collaboration with the university to enhance the region's educational capacity."


The Dongducheon Education Development Zone was selected as an area of interest in February 2024 and has since been promoting future industry talent development programs in collaboration with local universities, such as operating SW·AI leading schools and cultural content entrepreneurship training courses. In recognition of these achievements, it was promoted to a leading region in October 2025.
