Kyung Hee University Holds AI·Big Data GAIA-LINK Alliance Launch Ceremony

Full-Scale Launch of the Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration Alliance

The Kyung Hee University RISE Project Group held the launch ceremony for the "AI·Big Data Kyung Hee GAIA-LINK Alliance" on January 8 at the Courtyard Marriott Suwon Lake Park Ballroom.

This event was organized to establish a university-led platform for collaboration among local governments, industry, academia, research institutes, public organizations, and citizens, as well as to create a regional innovation ecosystem based on AI and big data.


The launch ceremony was attended by key stakeholders, including the Kyung Hee University RISE Project Group, officials from Gyeonggi Province and Yongin City, the Gyeonggi Institute of Economics and Science, as well as companies, universities, and research institutes in the AI and big data sectors. The event began with an opening speech by Lee Eun-Yeol, Vice President for Academic Affairs (International) and Head of the RISE Project Group at Kyung Hee University, followed by congratulatory remarks, a keynote speech, an introduction to the operational overview of the Kyung Hee GAIA-LINK Alliance, the presentation of membership plaques, and a declaration of the alliance's launch.


The congratulatory remarks were delivered by Heo Wan, Head of the Gyeonggi RISE Center, and Hong Sungwon, Director of Future City Planning at Yongin Special City. The keynote speech was given by Hong Choongseon, Professor Emeritus at Kyung Hee University and a member of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee, who emphasized the importance of national-level AI strategies and the significance of regional and industrial collaboration under the theme "Generative AI and National AX Strategy." The Kyung Hee GAIA Center then introduced the alliance's operational direction and collaboration structure, presenting strategies for establishing a sustainable cooperation system.


With the launch of the AI·Big Data Kyung Hee GAIA-LINK Alliance, the Kyung Hee University RISE Project Group plans to promote regional industrial innovation and collaborative partnerships through digital transformation based on AI and big data, and to expand practical industry-academia-research cooperation models linked to the Gyeonggi RISE Project. Lee Eun-Yeol, Head of the RISE Project Group, stated, "We will lead the university-driven collaboration platform so that all stakeholders can work together in a meaningful way, contributing to regional industrial innovation and the creation of social value."
