One-Stop Service Provided
From Application to Payment and Processing Results
Taebaek City in Gangwon Province (Mayor Lee Sangho) announced on January 9 that, starting from January 1, it has officially launched a service that enables residents to handle the entire process of large waste disposal-from application and fee payment to checking the processing results-in a one-stop manner through the smartphone app "Ppaegi."
Previously, applications for large waste disposal were handled separately via visits to local administrative welfare centers, online submissions, and mobile phone applications, causing inconvenience for citizens. With the introduction of the "Ppaegi" app, these previously dispersed application systems are now integrated into a single platform, greatly improving administrative efficiency and convenience for residents.
In October of last year, the city signed a business agreement with the company "Gatda" and decided to introduce the "Ppaegi" mobile app service for large waste disposal. From 2026, Taebaek citizens will be able to manage the entire process of large waste disposal more easily through their smartphones.
To use the service, residents can download the "Ppaegi" app from the Play Store or App Store, select the items for disposal, upload photos, enter the disposal date, time, and location, and then pay the required fee.
In addition to the large waste disposal application function, the "Ppaegi" app also offers the "Naeryeodeurim" service, which helps users carry down heavy waste items, as well as a "Secondhand Purchase" service that allows residents to sell usable furniture and home appliances to secondhand dealers.
A city official stated, "With the introduction of this mobile service for large waste disposal, we expect that unifying the previously dispersed application systems will make it easier and more convenient for citizens to dispose of their waste," adding, "We will continue to expand practical administrative services to further enhance convenience for our residents."
Meanwhile, citizens without smartphones or those who find it difficult to use them can still apply for large waste disposal in person at their local administrative welfare centers, ensuring that generations less familiar with digital environments can use the service without inconvenience.
