The Coupang Task Force, established at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, recently informed Rogers that he would be summoned as a suspect and is currently coordinating the schedule for the investigation.

Senior Coupang executives, including Representative Rogers, Bom Kim, Chairman of Coupang Inc., and former CEO Park Daejoon, have all been subject to complaints and requests for investigation regarding allegations of concealing industrial accidents and the personal information leak incident.

On December 31 of last year, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it had confirmed the deletion of five months’ worth of website access log data due to Coupang’s negligence and stated that it would refer the matter to the police for investigation.

On the same day, the National Assembly’s Science, ICT, Broadcasting, and Communications Committee also passed a motion to file a complaint against Rogers and six other current and former executives on charges of violating the National Assembly Testimony and Appraisal Act.

Representative Rogers previously testified in the National Assembly that he met with a suspect in the personal information leak case at the direction of the Korean government (National Intelligence Service). However, the National Intelligence Service denied this and announced its intention to request an indictment for perjury.

The Task Force plans to investigate not only the personal information leak but also the allegations of concealing industrial accidents.

On January 6, labor and civic groups filed a complaint with the National Police Agency against Chairman Kim and Representative Rogers on charges including destruction of evidence, occupational negligence resulting in death, and violations of the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
