Actress Goo Hye-sun (41) announced that she passed the thesis review for her master's degree at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) Graduate School, allowing her to graduate early.

On January 8, Goo Hye-sun wrote on her social networking service (SNS), "I passed my master's thesis and will be graduating early. My freshly bound thesis just arrived. Next, a PhD?! Victory!" She also posted a photo of herself wearing a graduation gown and cap. Goo Hye-sun initially began her studies in the Department of Film at Sungkyunkwan University as a member of the class of 2011, but paused her education due to her entertainment career. She re-enrolled in the department in 2020 and graduated at the top of her class in February 2024, earning a GPA of 4.27 out of 4.5. In June of the same year, she announced that she had been accepted into the 2024 fall semester master's program in science journalism at KAIST.

Goo Hye-sun made her entertainment debut as a commercial model in 2002, and gained recognition after appearing in the 2004 MBC sitcom "Nonstop 5." She rose to stardom through her roles in dramas such as "Boys Over Flowers" (2009) and "Blood" (2015). In addition to acting, she has been active in various fields including film directing, composing, and painting.

Recently, she has also transformed into an entrepreneur by launching the flat-type hair roller product "Kurole."

In November last year, Goo Hye-sun launched the hair roller "Kurole." The "Kurole" she introduced is a flat-structured product researched and designed to solve the bulkiness and portability limitations of conventional hair rollers. It can be folded flat for carrying and storage, and bent into a circular shape when in use, greatly enhancing practicality. Notably, by boldly removing the plastic frame that accounted for the largest volume in existing products, she reduced plastic usage by 80%, incorporating eco-friendly features.

Additionally, Goo Hye-sun was named a special award recipient in the Creative Talent category among the 19 outstanding teams recognized in KAIST's newly announced cultural strategy "QAIST." She was evaluated as having excelled in the creative talent area, which is one of the core values of the campus innovation strategy, alongside research, internationalization, technological value creation, and trust and communication.
