On the afternoon of January 5, Chinese Central Television (CMG) reported that Mrs. Kim Hye-kyung met with Mrs. Peng Liyuan, spouse of the President of China, in Beijing, where they enjoyed tea and conversation together.
According to CMG, Mrs. Peng welcomed Mrs. Kim’s first state visit to China with President Lee Jae-myung to mark the New Year. Mrs. Peng emphasized that exchanges between countries depend on friendship at the civilian level, and as Korea and China are neighboring countries, she expressed hope for increased exchanges and mutual understanding between the peoples of both nations.
Mrs. Peng also highly praised Mrs. Kim’s dedication to public welfare activities and her various efforts to advance the rights of women and children. She expressed her hope that both sides would share valuable experiences in these areas.
In response, Mrs. Kim expressed her gratitude for Mrs. Peng’s warm hospitality and thoughtful consideration. She also conveyed her respect for Mrs. Peng’s long-standing contributions to the advancement of women’s and children’s initiatives, and, according to CMG, stated her intention to work toward strengthening exchanges between the peoples of Korea and China and to contribute to enhancing friendship between the two countries.
