Selected for 37 Projects, Won 47 Awards

Yeongam County in South Jeolla Province demonstrated its policy competitiveness last year by achieving a series of successes in government-funded project competitions and various external evaluations.
In 2025, the county was selected for a total of 37 government-funded projects, securing a total project budget of 157.6 billion won, including 102.9 billion won in national and provincial funds. Additionally, Yeongam County recorded 47 awards in various evaluations and contests.
Major projects include the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s regionally proposed specialized public rental housing project (40.7 billion won), the hydrogen city development project (35 billion won), and the 2025 Regional Vitality Town project (18.3 billion won). These initiatives have laid the foundation for improving residential conditions and securing future growth engines.
The county also received several prestigious government awards, including the Presidential Award, ministerial awards, and grand prizes. Notable examples include the Presidential Award at the “Public Service Design Performance Sharing Conference” hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Grand Prize for Excellence in the 2025 City and County Agricultural Administration Evaluation, and the Grand Prize at the 2025 Local Content Festa.
In particular, Yeongam County received the highest SA grade for three consecutive years in the Manifesto Implementation Evaluation conducted by the Korea Manifesto Center, earning recognition for both policy credibility and administrative competence.
By sector, the county achieved 12 awards in the administration and policy sector, 7 in the economy and finance sector, 5 in culture and tourism, 16 in health, welfare, and safety, and 7 in rural and regional vitality.
In the administration and policy sector, notable achievements include the Excellence Award at the Korean Association for Local Government Studies’ Local Administration Innovation Awards and the Encouragement Award at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s Local Government Productivity Awards. In the economy and finance sector, Yeongam County was recognized as an excellent local government in the Local Price Stability Management Evaluation and received the Grand Prize for Investment Attraction at the Jeollanam-do Job and Economy Expo.
In the culture and tourism sector, the county was certified as an excellent institution in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Public Museum Evaluation and received the Excellence Award in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s Public Transportation Management and Service Evaluation. In health, welfare, and safety, the county won the Presidential Award at the Public Service Design Performance Sharing Conference and received the Prime Minister’s Institutional Commendation on Tuberculosis Prevention Day from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency. In rural and regional vitality, the county received the Grand Prize for Public Investment at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s Industrial Complex Advancement Awards and the Grand Prize in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ Comprehensive Evaluation of Agricultural Machinery Rental Projects.
