On January 7 (local time), President Lee Jae-myung emphasized, "If Korea's venture startup ecosystem is organically connected with China's vast environment for innovation and entrepreneurship, both Korea and China will encounter new and greater solutions for growth."
During his state visit to China, President Lee attended the Korea-China Venture Startup Summit held in Shanghai that day and stated, "The Joseon-era scholar Park Jega advanced modern technology in East Asia by interacting with prominent scholars of the Qing Dynasty."
President Lee praised, "China has long emerged as a global leader in innovation, driven by the passionate spirit of its youth," and added, "The passion of young Chinese people, who continuously create new value by turning failure into an asset for success, is a great inspiration to Korea as well."
He continued, "Korea is now preparing for a major leap forward through a grand transformation," explaining, "It is difficult to sustain continuous growth with the past capital-intensive, high-speed growth model." He stressed, "Korea is also aiming to transform into a national era of entrepreneurship, building on the foundation of 30 years of venture history."
President Lee explained, "To achieve this, above all, young people and innovative talents must be able to take on challenges without fear of failure," and added, "The state should share the risks encountered in the startup process so that failure becomes an asset for success, not a source of frustration."
He also promised, "We must create an environment where anyone with ideas-especially young people and innovative talents-can start a business," and pledged, "We will provide unwavering support so that young entrepreneurs and founders can freely and boldly take on challenges and fully pioneer the path of innovation."
Chen Jie, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, responded, "Korea is globally recognized as a powerhouse of innovation, and its achievements in various industries such as semiconductors, displays, automobiles, and advanced manufacturing are truly remarkable." Addressing the Korean companies in attendance, he said, "Your strong innovation capabilities and vibrant entrepreneurial spirit are a great example for us to learn from."
Vice Mayor Chen Jie added, "Investing in Shanghai is also investing in the future," and said, "We sincerely welcome Korean companies active in various fields to take on challenges in innovation and entrepreneurship in Shanghai, to demonstrate their capabilities, and to realize their dreams."
