CES (Consumer Electronics Show) is one of the world's top three ICT exhibitions, organized by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). As of 2025, it attracted more than 4,800 companies from over 160 countries and welcomed 140,000 visitors.
Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) held the opening ceremony of the 'Integrated Gangwon Pavilion' at 2 p.m. local time on the 6th in Las Vegas, USA, and officially announced the global market entry of 19 promising innovative companies from the province.
The opening ceremony was attended by more than 100 key guests and company representatives, including Shim Wonseop, Director of Industry of Gangwon Province; Lee Jooyeon, Corporate Ombudsman; Choi Miok, member of the Wonju City Council; and Victor Hoskins, President and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority in the United States.
This year, the Integrated Gangwon Pavilion went beyond simple participation and demonstrated the growth of Gangwon's industry with concrete numbers. The number of participating companies increased by 90% from 10 to 19 compared to the previous year, the budget doubled from 500 million won to 1 billion won, and the exhibition area expanded by 67% from 33 pyeong to 56 pyeong, making it the largest ever.
In particular, at the opening ceremony, a plaque presentation was held for the CES Innovation Award-winning companies: Smart ENC (Chuncheon), FD Tech (Wonju), and Solum New Materials (Gangneung), highlighting that "Gangwon's technology sets the standard for the world."
The core strategy of this year's exhibition is 'integration.' Breaking away from the previous approach of operating three separate pavilions, this year nine support organizations and 19 companies from the province participated together in a single 'Integrated Gangwon Pavilion.'
Through this, the province aims to firmly establish the 'Gangwon' regional brand among global buyers and investors, while maximizing synergy in collaboration and business consultations between companies.
Taking CES as an opportunity, the province will further strengthen its cooperative relationship with the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority, a key business hub on the U.S. East Coast.
Through its network with Fairfax County, a center for advanced technology and industry near Washington, D.C., the province plans to provide local investment information to companies and continue step-by-step support for establishing a foothold in the North American market.
Governor Kim Jin-tae had originally planned to visit CES 2026 in person to encourage local companies and promote global cooperation, but due to unavoidable domestic commitments, Shim Wonseop, Director of Industry, was dispatched as the governor's special envoy.

Through this special envoy, Gangwon Province plans to provide on-site support for participating companies, including technology promotion and connecting with global buyers and investors.
In his opening remarks, Director Shim Wonseop stated, "This year's Integrated Gangwon Pavilion not only represents an expansion in scale but is also a clear expression of Gangwon Province's commitment to fully supporting companies' global ambitions. We will actively support the entire process of promotion and networking so that the connections made here can lead to actual export contracts and sustainable partnerships."
