Hyundai Motor Group Unveils Products and Technologies to Lead AI Robotics
On-Site Demonstration of Atlas Research and Development Models
Showcasing "Spot" Integrated with Robot-Dedicated Orbit AI Software
On January 6 (local time), at the Hyundai Motor Group booth at "2026 CES," the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition in Las Vegas, USA, a demonstration of the humanoid robot Atlas captured the attention of visitors. Atlas, which was lying on the ground, folded its joints and stood up on its own. As it walked naturally with human-like movements, the crowd erupted in applause.
In the Tech Lab, which recreated an AI robotics research environment as an exhibition space, Atlas flawlessly recognized parts on a shelf and organized them in designated locations. With joints capable of 360-degree rotation, it smoothly changed direction and manipulated objects, while also demonstrating autonomous actions by making its own decisions and controls. The model demonstrated that day was the "next-generation electric Atlas research model," developed to verify core functions that will be applied to future products.

At CES, Hyundai Motor Group unveiled the development model for the first time, alongside the research model of Atlas. The development model is a robot designed for actual manufacturing sites, characterized by autonomous learning capabilities and flexibility to adapt to various work environments. It features 56 degrees of freedom (DoF), allowing most joints to rotate fully, and its human-sized hands are equipped with tactile sensors. A 360-degree camera enables the robot to recognize its surroundings and respond to changes during tasks.

In addition, a demonstration was held showing Boston Dynamics' quadruped robot Spot performing facility inspection and management tasks at industrial sites using the "Orbit" AI solution. Orbit AI is a software platform that enhances robot operation efficiency through remote control, real-time monitoring, AI-based anomaly detection, and data analysis functions.
One corner of the booth featured a physical archive showcasing the development process of Atlas and Spot, from their initial research models to the present. In addition, visitors could see a demonstration of the commercialized model of the next-generation mobility robot platform "MobED," a top module combination concept model in operation, the Ioniq 5-based Level 4 autonomous robotaxi, as well as demonstrations of an electric vehicle automatic charging robot and a parking robot, allowing a comprehensive look at Hyundai Motor Group's robotics and autonomous driving technology strategy in one place.
