'Active ETF Powerhouse' Timefolio Becomes First Active ETF Asset Manager to Surpass 4 Trillion Won in AUM

Timefolio Asset Management, a leader in the active exchange-traded fund (ETF) market, has surpassed 4 trillion won in assets under management (AUM). As the top player in Korea’s active ETF sector, Timefolio Asset Management has become the first active ETF asset manager to break the 4 trillion won mark, further solidifying its market dominance.

On January 7, Timefolio Asset Management announced that its total ETF AUM had reached 4.0361 trillion won. This achievement comes just over two months after surpassing 3 trillion won in AUM on October 23 of last year.

Recently, the domestic ETF market has exceeded 300 trillion won, reflecting unprecedented investor interest in ETFs. Interest in active ETFs, which aim for excess returns, appears to be even greater. Timefolio Asset Management’s achievement is especially significant as it was driven solely by its investment performance, gaining traction among investors through word of mouth despite fierce competition in the ETF market.

As of the end of last year, Timefolio Asset Management recorded 3.9 trillion won in AUM, achieving an annual growth rate of 307%. This was the highest growth rate among Korea’s top 10 ETF asset managers. During the same period, it was the only one among the top 10 to achieve growth exceeding 300%.

The domestic equity-type active ETF market is valued at 15.1 trillion won, with Timefolio holding a 26% market share. Timefolio has maintained its top position since last year, when the market began to expand in earnest, thanks to its unique management competitiveness.

Flagship products such as ‘TIMEFOLIO Korea Plus Dividend Active’ and ‘TIMEFOLIO US Nasdaq 100 Active’ have consistently outperformed their benchmark indices, establishing themselves as essential investment options for retirement funds. Other domestic equity-type funds, such as ‘TIMEFOLIO K-Bio Active,’ have also played a major role in increasing AUM by attracting significant capital from investors seeking differentiated results through agile management.

An industry insider commented, “Timefolio was able to achieve the highest growth rate among major asset managers due to its strong returns. Unlike passive strategies that track indices, Timefolio’s active strategies, which aim to defend against downturns and generate excess returns in up markets, have resonated with savvy investors.”

Timefolio has declared that reaching 4 trillion won marks the beginning of the ‘year of active ETF popularization.’ This year’s stock market is expected to be a ‘performance-driven market,’ with only a select few companies with solid earnings surviving amid both expectations for interest rate cuts and concerns about an economic downturn. The ability to select winning stocks, rather than buying the entire market, is more important than ever. Timefolio sees this market environment as the most favorable opportunity for active ETFs.

Riding this momentum, Timefolio is launching an aggressive marketing drive. The company plans to go beyond strong product management to enhance brand value and broaden its investor reach through company-wide capability enhancement. Specifically, it has decided to implement investor-friendly rebranding, establish a new public relations office to strengthen communication with the media and customers, and hire new professional marketers to expand customer touchpoints. The strategy is to transform from ‘Timefolio of Management’ to ‘Timefolio of Communication’ and leap from 4 trillion to 10 trillion won in AUM.

A representative from Timefolio Asset Management stated, “Surpassing 4 trillion won in AUM is thanks to investors who trusted in Timefolio’s active management philosophy.” The representative added, “This year, with enhanced marketing capabilities and even more sophisticated management strategies, we will become the nation’s leading active ETF asset manager by providing reliable profit solutions to investors, even in a highly volatile market.”
