Lounge Expansion in Preparation for Integration with Asiana Airlines
Introduction of Advance Lounge Reservations and Congestion Prediction Services
As Korean Air prepares to relocate Asiana Airlines to Terminal 2 at Incheon International Airport, the company is accelerating the expansion of its integrated lounges. Korean Air plans to enhance customer convenience by leveraging IT and big data to improve its services.
On January 7, Korean Air announced that it is expediting construction to expand the area and increase the capacity of its lounges at Terminal 2 of Incheon International Airport in preparation for its integration with Asiana Airlines.
The company aims to complete the expansion as quickly as possible and sequentially open the Prestige East Side (left) lounge, the First Class lounge, and the Prestige West Side lounge starting in the first half of this year. Once the renovations are complete, the total area of Korean Air lounges operated at Terminal 2 of Incheon International Airport will be nearly 2.5 times larger. The number of lounge seats will increase from 898 to 1,566.
Previously, in August of last year, Korean Air unveiled its newly renovated Milers Club and Prestige East Side (right) lounge in the duty-free zone of Terminal 2. In addition, the company created a new Prestige Garden Lounge in the newly established East and West Wing Tip areas, which were added as part of the fourth phase of Incheon International Airport's expansion project.

Korean Air also plans to introduce even higher-quality lounge services. Since last year, the airline has been operating a "Lounge Advance Reservation Service," allowing customers to conveniently use its directly managed lounges without waiting on-site. The company also provides a service that enables customers to check lounge congestion at a glance via its mobile app or website, and has introduced an on-site reservation system using mobile phone numbers when lounges are fully occupied.
Korean Air aims to predict lounge entry demand using big data to prevent congestion and to provide customers with a comfortable lounge experience through meticulous food and beverage (F&B) management.
A Korean Air representative stated, "Since 2023, Korean Air has been carrying out a large-scale renovation and expansion project for lounge facilities at Incheon International Airport to ensure the successful launch of the integrated airline," adding, "We will do our utmost to provide the best lounge facilities that reflect the new vision of the integrated airline while enhancing customer convenience."
