Goyang Special City Selected as 'Best' in Gyeonggi Province Local Tax Special Collection Evaluation for Second Consecutive Term

Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Donghwan) has been selected as the 'Best' institution in the 2025 second half Local Tax Special Collection Measures evaluation conducted by Gyeonggi Province.

The city was named the 'Best' institution in the first half evaluation of 2025 and has now secured the top spot for two consecutive terms, once again demonstrating the excellence and professionalism of Goyang Special City's tax arrears collection administration.

Gyeonggi Province conducted a comprehensive evaluation of 31 cities and counties within the province, assessing a total of 14 indicators across three categories: performance in clearing arrears, performance in the disposition of virtual assets in arrears, and performance in home searches.

The city achieved overwhelming results in Group 1, which includes large municipalities such as Suwon, Yongin, Seongnam, and Hwaseong, earning the honor of being selected as the 'Best' institution.

In particular, by actively pursuing the seizure and disposition of virtual assets and conducting home searches targeting high-value and habitual tax delinquents, the city significantly increased the effectiveness of arrears collection. The city meticulously analyzed the virtual asset holdings of delinquent taxpayers to implement systematic seizures and carried out intensive measures by simultaneously tracking hidden assets and conducting home searches.

Additionally, Goyang Special City contributed greatly to fostering a culture of faithful tax payment and the early settlement of delinquent taxes by implementing proactive and aggressive local tax collection policies, such as big data-based customized collection strategies, utilizing new collection techniques based on financial information, and operating the province's first dedicated task force for license plate seizures.

A Goyang Special City official stated, "Being selected as the 'Best' institution for two consecutive terms is the result of our unwavering commitment to innovation in arrears collection and the expansion of independent financial resources, as well as our field-oriented administration. We will continue to respect taxpayer rights and, through proactive and aggressive collection activities, do our utmost to establish a fair tax order and strengthen the city's finances."
