Easing the Management Burden on Farmers
Addressing the Rural Labor Shortage
Gurye County in South Jeolla Province announced that it has decided to extend the 50% reduction in rental fees for agricultural machinery rental services, which is being implemented to ease the management burden on farmers and address the labor shortage in rural areas, until the end of December 2026.
This measure reflects the current situation of farmers who are struggling due to rising costs of purchasing agricultural machinery, agricultural materials, and labor expenses. Any farmer can use all types of rental machinery available at the agricultural machinery rental center at the reduced price.
Meanwhile, the rental fee reduction policy, which was introduced in April 2020 following the spread of COVID-19, has led to an approximately 20% annual increase in the utilization rate of rental agricultural machinery and has helped reduce management costs for farmers.
Kim Soonho, Governor of Gurye County, said, "Since we operate the rental center to enhance the convenience of farming operations for farmers, we hope that many farmers will actively use the service," and added, "Please make sure to strictly follow safety guidelines when using agricultural machinery to prevent accidents."
