Service Includes Inspection Videos and Compensation Insurance
Launching First in Five Countries: US, China, Japan, Australia, and Canada
Kakao Pay announced on January 6 that it has launched an international shipping service.
Kakao Pay first introduced its domestic shipping service in 2019, and has now expanded its offerings to include overseas shipping.
The company explained that it is collaborating with the global logistics platform Deleo Korea to provide premium services at competitive prices, comparable to those of major express delivery companies.
Kakao Pay stated that it focused on minimizing the inconvenience of having to visit a service branch and the hassle of filling out complicated paperwork.
The company has introduced a "pick-up at your location" service, where a courier visits the user's preferred address to collect the package.
The reservation process is also intuitive. Users simply enter the number of boxes, sender and recipient information, and a description of the main item to complete the booking.
In particular, the "one-step address input" feature improves the process of entering English addresses.
Previously, users of express delivery services had to enter each field-such as name, contact number, state, city, and detailed address-separately. Kakao Pay users can now simply copy and paste the entire address they receive.
The entire international shipping process is managed in a one-stop system. Users can estimate shipping costs in advance with the "shipping cost calculator," and pay quickly and easily using payment methods linked to Kakao Pay after booking.
The company has also enhanced its safety features. It offers a function that allows users to view videos of the inspection and repackaging process at the Deleo Korea logistics center. As a paid option, users can select a comprehensive insurance plan at the time of booking, which compensates 100% of the item’s value in case of loss or other incidents during shipping.
Kakao Pay plans to begin the service in five countries with high demand: the United States, China, Japan, Australia, and Canada. The company also intends to gradually expand the list of available countries based on user feedback.
A Kakao Pay representative stated, "This service is the result of integrating the user convenience that Kakao Pay pursues into the logistics sector, dramatically simplifying complex procedures. We will continue to enhance the integrated logistics experience so that users can handle everything from domestic and international shipping to payment and safety management with Kakao Pay."
