This special lecture was organized to provide an opportunity for young people to reflect on the direction and attitude of their lives, and to reconsider the meaning of career paths and dreams, based on the life and spirit of Dasan Jeong Yak-yong.
On this day, Mayor Joo Kwangdeok, who served as the lecturer, emphasized that self-respect is an important starting point when considering one's career path. He cited examples of the message of human dignity that transcends religion and eras, and conveyed the importance of developing self-belief and self-esteem.
Mayor Joo went on to introduce the life of Jeong Yak-yong, who practiced lifelong learning and record-keeping. He stressed that, like Jeong Yak-yong, the habit of consistent contemplation and documentation can lead to personal growth and the realization of one's dreams. He added that the example of organizing thoughts and overcoming difficulties through writing remains highly relevant today.
Mayor Joo stated, "I hope each of you will look back on your dreams and listen to your inner voice with the pride that you are the most valuable and noble beings in the universe," and added, "Just as Jeong Yak-yong taught us, the attitude of never ceasing to write will strengthen your dreams and enable you to have a positive influence on your own happiness and society."

Meanwhile, the city has been operating special career lectures at 14 schools in the district, including Jinjeop High School. In 2026, the city plans to continue expanding its career education programs so that young people can proactively design their own career paths.
