On January 5 (local time), President Lee Jaemyung met again with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, China, resuming their summit talks after more than two months.
During his state visit to China, President Lee is expected to discuss a range of issues with President Xi at the North Hall of the Great Hall of the People, including economic cooperation in manufacturing and services, denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, and regional security concerns.
Earlier, at the Korea-China Business Forum held at Diaoyutai, President Lee stated, "Korea and China are like ships sailing together on the same sea, heading in the same direction," and added, "Now we must chart a new course." He also proposed expanding stagnant trade volumes through comprehensive industrial cooperation, ranging from artificial intelligence (AI) to K-content.
On this day, the government plans to hold a signing ceremony for more than ten memoranda of understanding (MOUs) to expand exchanges in areas such as the economy, industry, climate, and transportation following the summit. Meanwhile, sensitive issues between Korea and China, including the possible easing of the Korean Wave ban, the West Sea infrastructure issue, and the Taiwan issue, may also be discussed.
