Keimyung University (President Shin Ilhee) has launched intensive support initiatives to strengthen the practical employment and entrepreneurship capabilities of graduate students in the mobility sector in response to the era of artificial intelligence (AI).

Keimyung University announced that on the 29th, it held the "2025 Mobility Employment and Startup Camp" at the College of Engineering on the Seongseo Campus as part of the "Core Technology Talent Development Project for Future Vehicles."

This camp, organized by the Future Mobility Convergence Technology Innovation Center (UIC Center), was designed to enhance the employability of master's and doctoral students in the mobility field and to assess the commercialization potential of their research outcomes.

To ensure that graduate students' research leads not only to project completion or publication but also to actual employment and entrepreneurship, the camp included expert lectures and hands-on mentoring sessions.

Participating students were required to organize their laboratory research topics from a business perspective in advance, following the principles of the Business Model Canvas, and submit them. Through group discussions with startup mentors, they further developed their ideas into business plans during the mentoring sessions.

A total of 21 students participated in this camp, including 17 master's and doctoral students from Keimyung University and 4 from Kyungpook National University.

The business commercialization items refined during this camp will undergo additional mentoring from a group of professional mentors and are expected to be entered into external competitions.

Park Yoongeun, a master's student in Mechanical Engineering at Keimyung University who participated in the camp, said, "Until now, I viewed my research achievements solely in terms of technical completeness, but this camp gave me an opportunity to reconsider my research from the perspective of the market and customers. It was a practical help that allowed me to consider both employment and entrepreneurship at the same time."

Lee Gwanggu, Director of the UIC Center at Keimyung University, stated, "While the recent advancement of AI technology has greatly expanded the potential for technological breakthroughs in the mobility sector, it also presents challenges for new graduates seeking employment. However, by combining research capabilities in their major fields with a business mindset, now is a time when the chances of startup success are very high."

He added, "We will continue to create an environment where graduate students can explore and consider both employment and entrepreneurship together with the UIC Center."

Meanwhile, the Keimyung University UIC Center, with support from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, is participating in a consortium for the "Core Technology Talent Development Project for Future Vehicles," which includes nine universities and three research institutes in the automotive sector.

Keimyung University is currently operating a graduate-level interdisciplinary education program involving four departments-Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Transportation Engineering-with the goal of nurturing specialized talent in the autonomous vehicle sector, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication technologies.
