Archbishop Jung Suntak of the Seoul Archdiocese Expresses Condolences on the Passing of Actor Ahn Sungki
Archbishop Jung Suntak of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Seoul expressed his deep condolences upon hearing the news of the passing of the late actor Ahn Sungki, who had long been cherished as a "national actor" by the people.

Archbishop Jung said, "I am deeply saddened and extend my heartfelt condolences upon hearing the news of the passing of the late Ahn Sungki, also known as John the Apostle, who has delivered a profound resonance to our society as a 'national actor' for many years."
He continued, "Actor Ahn Sungki was an artist who left a significant mark on the history of Korean cinema, and through his acting, he brought hope, comfort, and warm happiness to the people. The authenticity he displayed in his works has remained in the hearts of many across generations and eras, shining as a bright light in our society."
Archbishop Jung also spoke about Ahn Sungki’s faith and life, recalling, "Actor Ahn Sungki was a devout Catholic who never lost his compassion for his neighbors and his warm regard for the vulnerable. Through his donations and good deeds, he offered hope for a world where we live together."
Finally, Archbishop Jung added, "We will long remember the sincerity and goodness that Ahn Sungki, also known as John the Apostle, left behind through his films and his life. I pray that God’s great mercy and peace will be upon him, and I offer my deepest sympathy and solidarity to his family and to all those who loved him."
