Youngmi Jung Inaugurated as 22nd President of the Korean Library and Information Science Society
Pledges to Strengthen the Society's Role in Addressing Information Access Inequality and Digital Transformation
Professor Youngmi Jung from the Department of Library and Information Science at Dong-Eui University has been inaugurated as the 22nd president of the Korean Library and Information Science Society. Her term will run for two years, from January 2026 to December 2027.
President Jung has previously served in key positions within the Korean Library and Information Science Society, including Vice President (Chair of the Academic Committee), Editor-in-Chief, and Director of General Affairs, contributing to the operation and development of the society. She is currently a member of the User Advisory Committee at the National Library of Korea, a member of the Legal and Institutional Improvement Committee at the Korean Library Association, and an advisor to the National Assembly Busan Library, addressing overall library policies and systems.
In her inaugural remarks, President Jung emphasized, "In response to the challenges of information access inequality and the era of digital transformation, I will strengthen the society's role as a public intellectual body that fulfills its social responsibility based on the expertise of library and information science."
The Korean Library and Information Science Society, established in 1974 to promote research and academic exchange in the field of library and information science, is a leading academic organization in Korea. It regularly publishes the KCI-listed journal 'Journal of the Korean Library and Information Science Society' four times a year and holds international academic conferences in both summer and winter.
