The company has established an AI maintenance system utilizing Amazon Bedrock, AWS's generative AI service, which automatically searches for relevant maintenance manuals and past cases when a technician detects an aircraft anomaly, then suggests the optimal maintenance solution. This system applies Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technology to quickly locate only the necessary information from pre-registered maintenance documents, thereby minimizing the possibility of AI errors and simultaneously improving the accuracy and speed of maintenance decisions.
In addition, by leveraging AWS's optical character recognition technology, Jeju Air has scanned and digitized maintenance records that were previously stored on paper, incorporating these records into the retrieval-augmented generation system to establish a more precise maintenance framework.
Jeju Air plans to gradually build a predictive maintenance system using this technology. The predictive maintenance system is a management framework in which AI learns component replacement histories and operational patterns to predict anomalies in advance and perform proactive maintenance. This approach reduces unexpected delays or cancellations, providing passengers with a more reliable air travel experience.
A Jeju Air representative stated, "We are establishing an operational system that integrates AI into maintenance sites to ensure both safety and on-time performance," adding, "We will make every effort to provide passengers with a safer and more reliable journey in the sky."
