Dongducheon City Appoints Heo Soon as Deputy Mayor: "Focusing Efforts on Successful Completion of the 8th Administration"

Dongducheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that Heo Soon, Head of the Gyeonggi International Airport Promotion Team, will be inaugurated as the 40th Deputy Mayor of Dongducheon City as of January 5, 2026.

Deputy Mayor Heo Soon began his public service career in 1996 and has held various positions over the past 30 years, including Director of the Women's Policy Division at the Gyeonggi-do Women's and Family Bureau, Regulatory Reform Officer at the Planning and Coordination Office, and Human Rights Officer of Gyeonggi Province. Known for his easygoing personality, he has prioritized harmony within the organization and taken the lead in communication.

On January 5, Deputy Mayor Heo Soon will receive his letter of appointment from Mayor Park Hyungdeok of Dongducheon City and is scheduled to begin his official duties with a visit to the Memorial Tower.

Deputy Mayor Heo Soon stated, "I am honored to take on this important role in Dongducheon City," and added, "Based on my accumulated administrative experience, I will fully support Mayor Park Hyungdeok in addressing key issues, including resolving the long-standing issue of the U.S. military base return sites, which is a major priority for Dongducheon City. I will focus all my efforts on ensuring the successful completion of the eighth popularly elected administration."
