The Korea Forestry Promotion Institute announced on January 5 that applications for the first round (written test) of the 12th Tree Doctor Qualification Exam will be accepted from January 5 to 9.
Tree doctors are professionals who prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases and pests affecting trees. Individuals can work as tree doctors only after obtaining the qualification under the Forest Protection Act.
Candidates must complete relevant training at an accredited institution and pass the national qualification exam to obtain the tree doctor certification.
The first round of the exam will be held on February 28 in Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, and Daejeon. The test consists of five subjects: Tree Pathology, Tree Entomology, Tree Physiology, Forest Soil Science, and Tree Management. Each subject contains 25 multiple-choice questions with five answer choices per question.
Applications can be submitted online through the Tree and Shrub Care Specialist website. Successful candidates for the first round will be announced on April 17 through the Tree and Shrub Care Specialist website.
Meanwhile, starting February 1, the administration of the Tree Doctor Qualification Exam will be transferred from the Korea Forestry Promotion Institute to the Korea Forest Disaster and Safety Technology Institute in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
