'Avatar 3' Hits $1.5 Billion at Box Office... Series Surpasses $9 Billion Globally

Just Two Weeks After North American Release

The global box office revenue for "Avatar: The Fire and Ashes," the third installment in the Avatar series, has surpassed 1 billion dollars.

On January 4 (local time), The Walt Disney Company announced that ticket sales for Avatar 3 had reached 1.0831 billion dollars. This achievement came just about two weeks after its release in North America on December 19 of last year.

By region, the film earned 306 million dollars in North America and 777.1 million dollars in markets outside North America. Disney highlighted particularly strong performances in China (138 million dollars), France (81 million dollars), Germany (64 million dollars), and Korea (44 million dollars).

The combined box office revenue of the three films in the series-"Avatar," "Avatar: The Way of Water," and "Avatar: The Fire and Ashes"-has exceeded 6.35 billion dollars.

Disney stated, "Director James Cameron's groundbreaking series has solidified yet another monumental achievement," adding, "'Avatar: The Fire and Ashes' continues its strong box office performance thanks to demand for premium screenings and extended international runs."
