"I Didn't Even Touch Her, But She Stabbed Me"... Robber Who Broke Into Nana's Home Sends Letter from Prison

Claims of "Coercion to Settle Testimony with Financial Support"
Agency States "All Civil and Criminal Actions Will Be Taken Without Leniency"

Nana, an actress and former member of After School, has been countersued for attempted murder and other charges by Mr. A, a man in his 30s who broke into her home and attempted robbery. Mr. A has sent a letter from prison claiming that he was assaulted by Nana.

On January 2, JTBC's "Case Manager" revealed five letters sent from prison by Mr. A, who was arrested on charges of special robbery and injury for breaking into the home of Nana and her mother while armed with a weapon, causing injury, and demanding money.

Mr. A stated, "When I entered Nana's house, I was only wearing gloves and a headset. My intention was theft, and I did not prepare a weapon in advance." He continued, "During the struggle, I did not kick or swing a weapon; I was only pushing and pulling, and at one point, I held Nana's mother tightly to prevent her from moving." He added, "Nana ran toward me and tried to stab my neck with the weapon that was in the house, but I barely avoided it and was stabbed 7 centimeters deep between my ear and neck."

He claimed, "From the very first moment I encountered Nana, I never touched any part of her body, not even a hair. On the contrary, even after being stabbed with the weapon, I was assaulted by Nana."

Mr. A also explained why he initially admitted to all charges during the first police investigation but later changed his statement. He said, "I broke into the house because I needed money for my mother's hospital bills. After being subdued by Nana and her mother, I told the truth and apologized. Then, Nana's side suggested that if I told the police I had entered with a weapon, they would give me the 40 million won I needed." He further claimed, "I trusted Nana's words and testified in line with the agreement during the police investigation, but after being placed in the detention center and hearing that Nana and her mother had submitted medical reports for their injuries, I decided to write this letter to reveal the truth."

However, the police and Nana's side disputed Mr. A's claims. According to the police investigation, Mr. A was carrying a weapon in a sheath at the time of the break-in, and immediately after entering the residence, he pushed Nana's mother, causing her to lose consciousness. The police concluded that a physical struggle broke out when Nana, awakened by her mother's screams, tried to stop him, and that Mr. A refused to let go of the weapon, resulting in a violent confrontation.

Nana's agency, Sublime, also stated, "There was absolutely no offer of hospital bill support, monetary proposal, or any agreement regarding statements about the weapon." The agency added, "On the contrary, the perpetrator requested that the incident not be reported to the police." They continued, "The perpetrator is filing a countersuit against the victim without remorse, exploiting Nana's celebrity status to inflict secondary harm. We will pursue all possible civil and criminal legal actions without leniency."

Previously, Mr. A was arrested on November 15 of last year at around 6 a.m. for breaking into Nana's home in Acheondong, Guri, Gyeonggi Province, while carrying a weapon. Investigations revealed that he climbed up to the veranda using a ladder and entered through an unlocked door. The police concluded that the injuries inflicted by Nana and her mother constituted legitimate self-defense to protect their lives and physical safety, and therefore did not press charges against them.
