On January 4, the Ministry of National Defense urged North Korea to "immediately cease its ongoing provocative actions following those of last year," stating that the latest ballistic missile launch was "a clear violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions."
Earlier, the Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that at around 7:50 a.m. on the same day, the North Korean military fired multiple ballistic missiles from the vicinity of Pyongyang toward the East Sea. The detected missiles traveled approximately 900 kilometers, and South Korea and the United States are currently conducting a detailed analysis of their exact specifications.
The Ministry of National Defense stated, "North Korea must actively participate in our government's efforts to establish peace on the Korean Peninsula through dialogue and normalization of relations," adding, "Our military will continue to provide military support for the government's efforts to establish peace on the Korean Peninsula, based on strong capabilities and readiness."
