Gyeonggi Province Introduces 'Integrated Housing Welfare Model' Entrusting General Housing Operation to Nonprofits

Gyeonggi Province is introducing a new integrated housing welfare model that aims to improve the residential environment of local residents by having public institutions purchase newly built villas or multiplex housing and entrust their operation to nonprofit organizations.

Gyeonggi Province and Gyeonggi Housing & Urban Development Corporation (GH) announced that they will hold an open call for organizations to operate the 'GH Care Hub' from February 9 to 12.

The 'GH Care Hub' project involves GH purchasing newly built villas or multiplex housing located in areas with a high concentration of non-apartment residences, and then entrusting their operation to nonprofit organizations, public interest corporations, or social cooperatives selected through the open call process.

The selected operating organizations will be able to recruit residents according to their proposed themes and provide differentiated, specialized services such as care, childcare, education, job creation, and startup support. Their responsibilities will include rental housing management and operation, as well as the management and operation of commercial and community facilities.

The project will cover 158 units of purchased rental housing and 5 neighborhood facilities. The recruitment areas include Dongducheon, Uiwang, Gimpo, and Bucheon. After a preliminary and main review, the selection results will be announced on March 10.

Organizations wishing to participate in the 'GH Care Hub' must freely propose operational themes centered around neighborhood living facilities and community facilities within the purchased rental housing, such as care, childcare, education, job creation, startup support, and support for people with disabilities or self-reliance.

Kim Tae-su, Director of Housing Policy at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "'GH Care Hub' is a new housing model that supports services such as care, education, and job creation tailored to the needs of residents living in non-apartment areas, thereby contributing to improved housing quality. We will continue to promote this initiative to realize social value through housing stability and community revitalization even outside of apartment complexes."
