Blue House National Security Office Holds Emergency Review Meeting on North Korean Provocation... Urges Pyongyang to Halt Actions Yonhap News

The Blue House held an emergency meeting with relevant agencies on January 4 in response to North Korea's ballistic missile launches and urged Pyongyang to halt its provocative actions.


The National Security Office of the Blue House announced in a press statement that "the National Security Office convened an 'Emergency Security Situation Review Meeting' regarding North Korea's launch of several ballistic missiles into the East Sea from an area near Pyongyang today, with the participation of the Ministry of National Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and other relevant agencies."


The National Security Office further stated, "We conducted a thorough analysis and assessment of this latest provocation, reviewed its impact on our national security and our readiness posture, and issued necessary directives to the relevant agencies."


Regarding North Korea, the office explained, "North Korea's ballistic missile launches are provocative acts that violate United Nations Security Council resolutions, and we urged Pyongyang to immediately cease such actions." This information was also reported to President Lee.


According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, North Korea fired several ballistic missiles into the East Sea from an area near Pyongyang at approximately 7:50 a.m. on this day. This marks North Korea's first ballistic missile launch of the year and the first in about two months since November of last year.
