Kim Kwangseok 30th Anniversary Memorial Concert in Daegu... Featuring Chae Songah, Kim Sungjun, and Shim Gyuyoun

Jung District of Daegu (headed by Mayor Ryu Kyuhwa) will hold a memorial event at 2 p.m. on January 6 to mark the 30th anniversary of the late Kim Kwangseok, who left a significant legacy in the history of Korean popular music.

This memorial festival will take place at the Kim Kwangseok Story House and will also be streamed live on YouTube, providing an opportunity for citizens to participate in the commemoration remotely.

The event will begin with a memorial ceremony at 2 p.m., followed by a tribute performance starting at 2:30 p.m. The performance will feature cellist Chae Songah, guitarist and singer-songwriter Kim Sungjun, and soprano Shim Guyoun, who will reinterpret Kim Kwangseok's classic songs in tribute. In addition, there will be an LP performance titled "Kim Kwangseok Song Stories & Life Stories" to further honor the 30th anniversary, delivering a profound resonance.

Tae Seonggil, Director of the Kim Kwangseok Happiness Sharing Association, stated, "For the 30th anniversary, we aimed to capture the comfort and warmth of Kim Kwangseok's songs rather than focusing on a glamorous stage," adding, "I hope this will be a time for everyone to feel that his songs are still alive with us."

Ryu Kyuhwa, Mayor of Jung District in Daegu, commented, "The 30th anniversary of Kim Kwangseok is an occasion to reflect on how his music continues to touch the hearts of many across generations and time," and added, "We will continue our efforts to ensure that the artistic value and spirit of Kim Kwangseok's music are carried on as cultural content."

Meanwhile, on this day, the Kim Kwangseok Story House, which serves as the Kim Kwangseok Exhibition Memorial Hall, will be open to the public free of charge, allowing all citizens to participate in the commemorative event honoring Kim Kwangseok.
