Kim Seongsik Appointed as KDIC President... Bar Exam Peer of President Lee

The Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation announced on January 2 that Kim Seongsik has taken office as its new president.

President Kim graduated from the Department of Law at Seoul National University in 1988 and has served as a judge and lawyer for over 30 years.

The Financial Services Commission stated on December 30, when recommending his appointment, "He has accumulated extensive legal experience as a lawyer, including providing legal counsel and handling litigation related to financial companies. He possesses substantial practical experience and expertise based on his legal background, particularly in the designation of insolvent financial institutions, bankruptcy proceedings, and the financial industry as a whole."

President Kim passed the bar exam in the same year as President Lee Jaemyung. He is also known to have served as a member of the defense team during President Lee’s trial for abuse of authority while Lee was Governor of Gyeonggi Province.

Meanwhile, the inauguration ceremony for President Kim has not yet been scheduled due to a work stoppage protest by the KDIC labor union.
