Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon began his first official schedule of the year by visiting the Yuwonjeil 1st Reconstruction construction site in Yeongdeungpo-gu to inspect the current status of safety management. Mayor Oh also reaffirmed his commitment to supplying 310,000 housing units by 2031.
On the morning of January 2, Mayor Oh visited the Yuwonjeil 1st Reconstruction site and stated, "After strenuous efforts to revitalize housing supply, we have reached the point where the plan to start construction on 310,000 units by 2031 is now achievable. As the number of redevelopment sites increases, the potential for safety blind spots also grows, so I urge everyone to implement safety regulations even more thoroughly on site."
He added, "The Seoul Metropolitan Government will also work together to minimize safety accidents at housing supply sites."
The Yuwonjeil 1st Reconstruction project began construction in August 2024 and is currently carrying out structural work, with a progress rate of 30%. By 2028, a total of 550 apartment units, including 71 rental units, will be supplied.
In addition, the city introduced a 'video record management system' for construction site safety management in 2023 and has been operating it since then. As of September last year, the entire construction process at a total of 56 redevelopment sites across Seoul (approximately 45,000 housing units) is being recorded and managed on video.
