Governor Kwon Ikhyun of Buan: "2026 Will Be a Year Proven by Results" On the morning of the 2nd, Kwon Ikhyun, the governor of Buan County, delivered a New Year's address at the 2026 Byeongo Year Opening Ceremony held at the main auditorium of Buan County Office in Jeonbuk. Provided by Buan County

On January 2, Buan County held the 2026 Byeongo Year opening ceremony at the main auditorium of the county office, declaring that the core of this year’s county administration will be “achieving tangible results through selection and concentration.”

Kwon Ikhyun, the governor of Buan County, stated in his New Year's address, “2026 should not be a year for listing new plans, but a year for clearly choosing what Buan County administration must focus on. It is not the time for expanding the scope of what we can do, but rather for clarifying the tasks that must be accomplished and taking full responsibility for them until the end.”

In particular, this year’s county administration theme was presented as “Gyeolsilchangrae,” meaning that the time spent preparing and taking on challenges so far must now lead to clear changes and tangible results in the lives of county residents. Buan County explained that this reflects a strong determination to achieve such outcomes.

This year, the county plans to focus all efforts on connecting national growth trends-such as renewable energy, artificial intelligence (AI), and K-culture-to Buan’s unique competitive advantages. Their strategy is to maximize synergy by organically combining policies in various areas, including energy transition, expansion of industrial infrastructure, revitalization of culture and tourism, and improvement of residential conditions.

Governor Kwon urged public officials, “This year as well, please put the residents first and strive even harder for the development of Buan. Pursue county administration with core values of responsible decision-making, results-based governance, and changes that directly impact the lives of our residents.”
